I'm sorry I laughed at you. I'm sure it wasn't the effect you were hoping for when you rang me at ten to midnight, but you need to put more effort into it. Sunday night's call had a strong and consistent back story and was performed by an actress of (almost) reasonable believability.
Please try harder as I will not always be able to give you material for it, and repeating words I say in a voice that I can only assume you think is spooky is simply not good enough. You need to think about what you're going to say before you ring me, and not just assume that saying hello in a funny voice will suffice.
Perhaps look online for ideas? Engaging the receiver of the call in conversation would be a good start. Maybe if you thought of a character it might work better?
Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow night and hope that you have taken some of my ideas on board.
